Haydee Ducay

Communication is the foundation of social relations and transformation, this is Haydee’s philosophy as a civil servant and a communication practitioner. Hence, her writings are centered on the Filipino experience, social accountability, and governance.

She graduated cum laude from the University of the Philippines Baguio with a degree in Communication in 2019 and now serves the Department of Budget and Management as an Information Officer. Prior to becoming a part of the government workforce, she worked in public relations and advertising agencies where she worked with different accounts from technology, automotive, healthcare, and non-profit organizations. Moreover, she is a freelance writer taking on projects related to public work.

As a Fulbright scholar, she will pursue her Master of Arts in Media and Public Communication with a specialization in Strategic Communication at the University of Denver where she intends to research the integration of public participation in government-decision making, specifically in the creation of the national budget. Once she returns to the Philippines, she aims to apply her learning by looking into the role of private institutions in policy success.

Haydee loves to read, sing, immerse herself in nature, and spend time philosophizing about technology and its social implications with her husband who is a computer scientist.
