Jerico R. Santos

Jerico R. SantosJerico R. Santos is currently a MD-PhD (PhD in Molecular Medicine) student in the University of the Philippines (UP) - College of Medicine belonging to the fourth batch of this pioneering program sponsored by the Department of Science and Technology Science Education Institute and the Philippine Council for Health Research and Development. 

 
Jerico finished his Bachelor of Science degree in Molecular Biology and Biotechnology (Magna cum laude) in the College of Science, University of the Philippines-Diliman. He then worked as a research associate in the Institute of Molecular Biology, National Institutes of Health, University of the Philippines, Manila prior to joining the MD-PhD program. 
 
During his graduate studies, his research project was on the development of a prototype lab test that can be used to prognosticate or predict the clinical response of severely infected patients. This work was presented in the International Sepsis Forum in Institute Pasteur, Paris, France. He has also had rotations in biomedical research in the Kobe University School of Medicine (Kobe, Hyogo, Japan) as a Japan Student Services Organization (JASSO) fellow in the cardiovascular science lab.
