Jigo is a geothermal geoscientist at Energy Development Corporation (EDC). Under the Fulbright Foreign Student Program, he will be pursuing his Master of Science in Energy Geoscience at Rice University where he intends to expand his scope towards other renewable energy technologies relevant to clean energy transition initiatives in the Philippines.
Jigo graduated cum laude with a degree in Bachelor of Science in Geology from the University of the Philippines Diliman in 2011 and topped the Geology Licensure Exam in the same year. He entered the geothermal industry as a geochemist and recently became a field development planner for new projects. He also attended the United Nations University – Geothermal Training Program in Iceland.
With his Fulbright grant, he aims to explore renewable energy best practices that can accelerate the development of the abundant remaining untapped geothermal potential of the Philippines. Upon his return, he will continue to propel new geothermal projects that will help achieve the country’s energy transition goals.
