Dr. Michael N. Young is the Dean of the School of Industrial Engineering and Engineering Management (IE-EMG) at Mapúa University in the Philippines. He is a Mapúa alumnus who earned his bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering and was part of the university's first international on-the-job training group in Singapore. He later completed his master's and doctoral degrees in Industrial and Systems Engineering at Chung Yuan Christian University in Taiwan, with support from Mapúa for his graduate studies. His research focuses on financial engineering, particularly portfolio selection, portfolio optimization, and portfolio management models for financial decision-making.

Shaped by the opportunities he received as a Mapúa student and scholar, he is committed to helping create similar opportunities for current students through research, mobility, and academic engagement. For the 2026-2027 academic year, he will serve as a Fulbright Scholar-in-Residence at North Dakota State University, an opportunity he views as closely connected to his continuing journey with Mapúa. Through this engagement, he hopes to contribute to teaching, research collaboration, community engagement, and meaningful academic exchange between Mapúa University and NDSU.
