Sheila F. Abacan
Sheila F. Abacan is currently an Assistant Professor in the University of the Philippines Los Baños (UPLB). She obtained her BS Nutrition and MS Applied Nutrition degrees from the Institute of Human Nutrition and Food (IHNF) in UPLB. Fresh from passing the Licensure examination for Nutritionist-Dietitian in 2007, she started working as research assistant in UPLB followed by a field work, as dietary researcher, during the conduct of the National Nutrition Survey under the Food Nutrition and Research Institute (FNRI-DOST) in 2008. From 2009 up to present, she remains part of the faculty of the Institute of Human Nutrition and Food where she handles major courses in undergraduate and graduate nutrition degrees and performs research and extension activities on food and nutrition. Outside her classroom and campus duties, Sheila enjoys trying out new recipes and taking food photos.
Sheila is now set to further her education by pursuing PhD in Food, Nutrition, Dietetics, and Health at Kansas State University. After completing her PhD study, she envisions serving her own university through advancing their own nutrition degree programs as well as their institute’s food and nutrition research undertakings.
